Don't Gamble With Your Performance!

Don’t Gamble With Your Performance!

How many times have you been next to the person that just won it big on a slot machine next to you or even worse the same machine you just walked away from. It’s kind of like losing the big race or getting beat by your buddy in the last corner of the last lap. Not protecting the vital components of your R/C car is big gamble too when it comes to getting optimal performance and longevity out of your hard earned dollars. Good news, there are cost effective measures available so you don’t have to gamble on the performance for your R/C car.

There are a number of quality high performance air filters on the market that are fantastic at supplying high end air performance. All too often people are not aware of how the right choice of air filtration can cause the best or the worst of days, kind of like pulling the handle on a slot machine and hoping for triple 7’s. The most popular air filters in the R/C market are foam filters using oil that helps collect the incoming dirt particles to the outside of the filter. While your engine is sucking in the air it wants, the oil is working hard to collect dirt and debris so that clean air can enter the engine. By using different types of foams air filters are useful in many different conditions. For example, if you are running in a dusty environment you may want to use a denser filter that allows a little less air while collecting more dirt and debris. Conversely, if you are running on a heavier surface, such as clay or a tacky dirt, the use of a less dense filter may be required, sense dust may not be present more air would be allowed while knocking down the large junks of clay or debris. So before you choose an air filter take a look at the environment that you will be running in. It will not only make your day better, but will save you money in the long run.

There is one problem with foam air filters it’s what is referred to as “depth loading”. As the engine gasps for more air, the dirt on the filter that was collected by the foam and oil combination is pulled deeper into the cells of the foam, this will eventually block your air flow. This will also create an intake of turbulent air, instead of free flowing air that your engine demands for high performance. No matter what air filter is chosen, or what conditions you are running, the use of a Pre-Filter installed over the air filter is worth more than bucket full of poker chips. Pre-Filters will keep particles of debris such as pebbles, dirt, and sand from clogging the elements of the air filter. Premature clogging of an air filter will result in a loss of performance and a loss to the wallet resulting in more money spent on air filters and engine rebuilds. Pre-Filters are uniquely designed to protect your engine and your performance air filter without sacrificing air flow or performance (independent test results show). Particles as small as .005” are filtered out extending filter and engine life giving you optimal performance for those long runs and the opportunity to beat your friends and competitors. Even in harsh conditions including heavy moisture a Pre-Filter will enhance your air filters ability to continue the necessary flow of air required for maximum performance while reducing the possibility of water ingestion into the engine. Proper use of a Pre-Filter will save money on replacing air filters and extend your engine life by preventing needless wear and tear, which will be obvious upon engine analysis during a rebuild. No more pulling the long arm of slot machine.

Webster’s dictionary defines the word gamble as; 1. To bet on an uncertain outcome; 2. To stake something on a contingency: take a chance. The next time you fire up your R/C car, don’t gamble that dirt and debris won’t enter your engine and cause havoc to your power plant. Be certain of the outcome you are looking for by choosing the right combination of air filtration.
